Millicom CEO steps down

Millicom CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht has revealed that he will be stepping down from his position at the end of 2014. According to Albrecht, the reason for the move is due to the fact that he wants to develop a number of entrepreneurial projects as well as return to the media sector.

According to the Millicom board of directors, they have begun the proccess of finding a successor for Albrecht. CFO, Tim Pennington, will take on the role of interim CEO. Back in November 2012, Albrecht became president and CEO of Millicom.

Orange Business Services appoints Giorgio Heiman as Vice President, Africa

Orange Business Services, the Orange branch dedicated to B2B services, has announced the appointment of Giorgio Heiman as Vice President of Africa, effective this month. Giorgio will share his time between Geneva and Johannesburg and takes over the leadership of the business in Africa from Jean-Luc Lasnier, who is retiring.


SA's Mxit, codeX partner to enrich ICT skills

Mxit, the South African mobile social network, has partnered with codeX and is offering three bursaries to the value of R25,000 each to young Mxit users for the next intake, in February 2015.

codeX is a new incubator focused on breeding highly skilled software developers to fuel South Africa's technology ecosystem. This new apprenticeship programme trains young, talented minds to build real software products, and is supplemental to tertiary coding and programming training.
