Ghana - Payment of Domestic Airline tickets made easy by MTN Mobile Money

MTN Mobile Money subscribers who use Starbow can now purchase their air tickets through MTN Mobile Money. MTN announced the new addition during an interaction with News Editors and senior journalists in the Volta Region.

The forum was to brief journalists on new trends in telecommunications, the drive towards convergence, MTN’s CSR initiatives, as well as the company’s network coverage expansion projects currently underway in the region.

Expresso to land ACE Fibre Optic Cable in Ghana

Expresso Ghana will soon land a new undersea fibre optic cable called ACE in Ghana, Adom News can confirm.

A top official of Expresso Ghana confirmed to Adom News the company is in the process of landing the cable in Ghana soon, but could not provide the exact date immediately.

Expresso would be the third individual operator in Ghana to have landed a submarine fibre optic cable after Glo Mobile landed Glo One and MTN landed WACS.

Ghana’s Internet speed ranked highest in Africa

Ghana has been ranked number one in Africa as the country with the highest Internet speed, according to the latest global internet speed report released March 5, 2012 by US-based, Ookla.

Ookla is the global leader in broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic applications, and its report was based on millions of recent test results from Speedtest.net. Its NetIndex compares and ranks consumer download speeds around the globe, and reported Ghana had an average broadband speed of 5.13 megabits per second.

Ghana - Glo hails number reservation a success but no launch date

Glo Ghana boss, George Andah has disclosed exclusively to Adom Business News that the 023-3 number reservation campaign has been successful, creating the opportunity to open up another block of numbers beginning with 023-5 to enable more people reserve special numbers ahead of commercial launch. However, the company has still to set a launch date for its service.

Ghana: Glo to launch on ‘aggressive’ note before close of 2011

Glomile Ghana will launch its 023 mobile services in Ghana before the close of this year, and it would do so on an 'aggressive' note.

Group Chief Operations Manager, Mohammed Jameel told journalists “we know Ghanaians have been waiting for us, we have crossed a number of mile stones and we are ready to launch before the close of 2011.

“We will be aggressive – we will be unique – we will be very competitive in pricing – we will be superior in terms of products and service and be present in all the key cities of Ghana at our launch,” he said.

Ghana Movie Awards 2011 launched

Movie producers are expected to submit their work for second Ghana Movie Awards ceremony which is slated for 25 December 2011. The closing date for the submission of entries is 15 October 2011.

Speaking at the launch of the awards, ace Actor and President of the Ghana Movie Awards committee David Dontoh said even though the maiden edition of the awards was fraught with challenges, this year’s event will see a marked improvement.
