The countries below contain a historic archive of information on the state of the internet that is now three years old. For some countries, the information has remained largely the same whereas for others considerable change has occurred. However it can still be used to identify organisations involved in developing the internet and to understand the historic development of the Internet in Africa. STRENGTHENING HUMAN RIGHTS IN AFRICA

Fahamu undertook an extensive survey of the training needs of human rights and advocacy organisations in eight southern African countries (Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe). More than one hundred organisations were interviewed. The study formed the basis upon which the Adilisha project was initiated. This version of the report is due to be published shortly in a book that is part of the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) "Voices from Africa" series published by UNCTAD. The paper is available as a pdf file at fahamu's website http://www.fahamu.org/ and follow the links to the Social Policy section.
