UN AND OTHERS TO END XML CONFLICTS One of the most important standards
to emerge since HTML for web pages is ebXML. This soon-to-be
ratified standard will put an end to the proliferation of XML
message formats for B2B communications. The new standards will
be ratified by both the UN, CEFACT, and OASIS -- a 150-member
organization which includes IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems,
among others. ebXML includes four components: a basic vocabulary
for all XML communications, a business process model that can
be used to define negotiation protocols, a discovery protocol
allowing traders to identify themselves, and a trading agreement
standard. A test suite is being developed to determine compliance
of any ebXML implementation. 2Ghz PENTIUM 4 EXPECTED BY EARLY 2001 Intel is expected to crank
up its much-delayed Pentium 4 processor to 2Ghz by the end of
the second quarter next year. Apparently the company has already
demonstrated a Pentium 4 running at 2Ghz and says that the chip
has been designed so that it could easily be scaled up to higher
clock speeds.
