REUTERS BIDS FOR US ASSETS OF RIVAL BRIDGE

SENTECH PHONE LICENCE MAY LOWER TELKOM’S VALUE

Telkom said that government proposals to give state signal broadcaster Sentech an international phone licence would bite into Telkom’s value. "Sentech will have the best licence in this country . . . It devalues the SNO (second network operator) and it devalues Telkom," regulatory affairs head Victor Moche told reporters.

Telkom has identified the Sentech international gateway licence and the initial period of services-based competition as issues it will address in its policy submission, due next week. It will also contest number portability.
