BANK OF GHANA TO LINK ITS ATM NETWORK TO OTHER BANKS

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) is to link the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) of all commercial banks in the country to make it possible for users to access their moneys from any of such machines regardless of where they save. The initiative has, however met with a mixed reception from some commercial banks which apparently want to use their ATM systems as part of their competitive offer.

However, the Head of the Payment Systems Office of BoG, Damain Zaato, believes that the change is a better option because it will offer customers easier access to their money. He was speaking at a seminar on credit and clearance at Koforidua during which the proposed Credit Transfer Voucher, soon to be used in inter-bank transactions was introduced to business and financial institutions in the Eastern Region.
