FRENCH COMPANY'S DECISION TO OFFSHORE TO MOROCCO SPARKS WAGE ROWIN FRANCE
The decision by Timing, a sub-contractor of Cegetel, to outsource some of its work to Morocco has stirred up a storm of protest from its French call-centre employees.
Timing's main operation is based in Montrouge in France's Hauts-de-Seine region, offering call centre services. It decided in June to outsource some of its night work to Morocco, leading to a loss of 38 jobs, according to the company's trade union.To protest, around a hundred of the company's employees staged a demonstration outside the headquarters of Vivendi, owners of Cegetel. The decision has also seen the French Socialist Party condemn the decision.
