NEPAD TO LAUNCH E-SCHOOLS INITIATIVE IN UGANDA

The New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) will launch the first demonstration of the Africa e-school project at Kyambogo College School in Kampala. The initiative aims at equipping African schools with appropriate information and communication technologies to enable them participate in the information society and bring the continent closer to the Millennium Development Goals. At a press conference on Monday, Silvia Ufoyuru, NEPAD’s programme manager in Uganda, said the launch follows signing of a memorandum with the project implementing consortium in May. “This demonstration is intended to accrue a body of knowledge based on real life implementations of ICT in African schools across the continent that will serve to inform the model for post-demo roll-outs,” Ufoyuru said.
