In Brief:

- South Africa’s technology firm AdaptIT plans to buy more companies to grow its business in the public and financial services sectors. AdaptIT provides niche software products to industries such as mining and manufacturing. Last year it bought a 51% stake in ITS Holdings, which provides software to the higher and further education market, to expand its products and services.

- IBM has signed a collaboration agreement with the Tanzanian government aimed at supporting the adoption of information technologies and the country's development in key areas such as education and R&D. The pact between the company and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MOEVT) will help realise the government's vision of building a "Silicon Valley" type environment around the University of Dodoma.
