- The Federal Government has inaugurated the e-Nigeria 2011 Local Organising Committee. E-Nigeria Conference which is scheduled to hold in September 2011 is NITDA's annual flagship awareness campaign aims at bringing various stakeholders together to marshal and brainstorm on IT development for the country.

- In Cameroon, the University of Yaounde I has been selected as one of the institutions for an e-learning project involving Kenya and South Africa. The FCFA 113 million German Academic Exchange Service-sponsored project, aims at improving quality access to education in the selected countries.

- Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has said that his administration will soon commence the issuance of electronic identity cards with unique identification numbers to all residents of the state. He said it was aimed at creating a reliable data base of all citizens in the state.
