Mergers, Acquisitions and Financial Results

The government of Togo has confirmed its intention to move onto phase two of the full reorganisation of state-owned operators fixed line PTO Togo Telecom and mobile operator Togo Cellulaire (Togocel), which will see the pair merged into a single entity with dedicated operating divisions for different services. The Council of Ministers have noted the ‘encouraging’ progress to date and have decided to forge ahead with plans to combine the operations, saying that to continue its rehabilitation, the government will establish one unit – a fixed/mobile infrastructure subsidiary with responsibility for investment in and maintenance of its network facilities – and a second grouping – a fixed/mobile services subsidiary, offering a range of converged and ‘innovative’ products to residential and business users, hopefully at ‘very attractive prices’.
