Telecom Malagasy (Telma) has announced a three-year plan to connect all cities across Madagascar with its fibre-optic network, reports L’Express. At present the majority of main cities on the island are connected with broadband services, and the telco’s plan is to install 11,000km of optical fibre, strengthening the existing 5,000km of the national fibre backbone. The expansion will be driven by Telma’s parent company Groupe Axian, which will invest USD250 million in the project between 2017 and the end of 2019.
