Last week an agreement was put in place between Vivendi Africa Group (GVA), Gabon’s Ministry of Water and Energy and the Energy and Water Corporation of Gabon (SEEG) to deploy an overhead optical fibre network, writes Gabon Review. The project is part of the ‘Gabon Digital Plan’ and will utilise SEEG’s electricity transmission infrastructure in order to deliver a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to households and businesses initially in the regions of capital Libreville, Akanda and Owendo.

GVA was granted a FTTH licence by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP) in January 2017 and the company was said to be experiencing difficulties in deploying its fibre-optic network, however, it seems that now a solution has been found with the signing of the agreement this week with the government and SEEG.
