French engineering and consulting group Tactis will monitor the implementation of Burkina Faso’s first phase of its national fibre network, reports Agence Ecofin. Proposals were requested by the Ministry of Development of the Digital Economy in September 2016 for the monitoring and implementation of phase one of the national fibre-optic network plan and Tactis won the contract, worth XOF3.8 billion (USD7.0 million).

Singapore-based Huawei International PTE Limited will implement the first phase of the project which will cover 2,001km of the total 5,443km of the network and the project as a whole is valued at USD241 million. No date has yet been given on when the construction of the fibre-optic network will begin.
