ETTHIOPIA'S ELECTORAL BOARD SAYS ITS WEBSITE VISITED 900 MILLION TIMES AROUND THE WORLD

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia said its website was visited 900 million times around the world between March and July, 2005.

Press and Information Section with the Board told ENA yesterday that Internet users from 114 countries across the globe visited the Board's web designed under a name "electionethiopia.org".

The Section said the web was visited for 800 million times particularly in May 2005, which it said, has enabled the web to get dozens of customers.

More than two million of the web's visitors are from America, which stood first in terms of visitors followed by Ethiopia, whose visitors are numbered 210,000, the section said.

About 70,000 visitors who visited the web are from Canada, which stood third, it said.

Dozens of visitors from Germany, England, Sweden, Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands stood fourth to ninth in terms of visitors of the web, the section said.

Visitors from 34 African countries had visited the Board's web in which Ethiopia ranks first followed by South Africa and Kenya.

Visitors from Djibouti, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, the Sudan, Egypt and Somali as well as Swaziland and Madagascar had also visited the web. The Ethiopian Herald
