FIT ZIMBABWE PRODUCES INTERACTIVE WEBSITE FOR LOCAL SMEs

Digital Content

Fit Zimbabwe, a local small enterprise development and research company, has launched an improved, interactive website to provide emerging businesses with access to information on Zimbabwean products, according to company officials. The firm has been hosting a website for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) since November 2002 in an attempt to provide information on their products and services.

The site is also supposed to be utilised by companies and individuals interested in the products and services of local SMEs. Web development manager James Mugari said research by his company showed that a large number of small to medium-scale enterprises were using the internet for communication and to reach wider markets. "SMEs represent a large and growing business sector in Zimbabwe.

An increasing number of them are using the Internet," he said. "It is hoped the website will be useful to them and that large businesses which require the services of SMEs or wish to market their products to this huge market will also take advantage of this development," Mugari added.

He said his company’s portal was not only useful to SMEs and their potential clients, but also to development agents, the general public and international businesses. Critical information on the SME sector included on the website ranges from the availability of resources to company formation.
