Uganda: NTV's Hotsteps Dance is back
NTV's dance reality show Hotsteps is back for the second season and dancers will be competing for a Shs10m purse. The reality TV show will be aired starting the first week of November on NTV, but auditions have already taken place in Jinja, Mbale and Entebbe. The dance genres performed by the wannabe dancers in the upcountry auditions have ranged from local to the international. So if your forte is Bakisimba and not Calypso or vice versa, don't shy away from the challenge.
The final auditions will be held in Kampala at Didi's World between 9a.m. and 4p.m. today and tomorrow. After the auditions, 24 contestants will be picked for the finals, where they will have to go through gruelling examination of their dance skills under the critical eyes of the judges; Michael Kasiaja of Kombat Dancers, David Kakooza of Mirinda, Obsessions Manager Ronnie Mulindwa and contemporary dancer Grace Ibanda.
Hotsteps is borrowing a leaf from other successful international dance oriented TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance and BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
But one of the producers of the Miranda sponsored Hotsteps, Keefa Elisa Walusimbi, says it will be as authentic as possible. "The fact that the local dance genres like Bakisimba are allowed, gives the show an authentic look," says Walusimbi who promised that the second season of Hotsteps will be a must watch on NTV for all those who love dancing and appreciate good television.
