Pan African Pay-TV service GTV seeks programmes

GTV, the pan African pay TV service will attend MIPCOM 2008 and is keen to acquire programmes to fill slots for its seven channels, G Prime, G Series, G Africa, G Sports 1, G Sports 2, G Xtra and G Star.

GTV’s acquisition team is planning to acquire top UK and US drama, series and movies as well as factual, kids, daytime talk shows, religion, education, lifestyle and entertainment formats. While the programming slates for GTV’s francophone channels will include French-language movies, series, factual and children’s formats.

Speaking on his plans to extend the reach and service of GTV, Julian McIntyre, Founder and Managing Director said: “We are always on the lookout for premium family content appropriate to our G channels and MIPCOM gives us the perfect opportunity to meet talented producers and content providers, especially the independents who want to break into the African market.”

In addition to its own channels, subscribers to GTV’s service can also watch international channels such as BBC World, Sky News, MTV Base, E!, Aljazeera; Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon among others. Since its launch in June 2007, GTV has been redefining pay-TV service in Africa with a balanced and carefully selected choice of sports and family entertainment programming.
