Nigeria: FRCN Calabar to Begin Next Quarter


The Minister of Information and Communications, John Odey said on 25 June 2008 that Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) is to be commissioned in Calabar in the next quarter.

According to Odey, the Director-General and some officials of FRCN visited the State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, recently and held far-reaching discussions, especially on infrastructural development that would bring about positive and fruitful outcome towards the realisation of the desired goals of the radio station. Odey also assured the Deputy Governor of federal government support.

Deputy Governor, Efiok Cobham solicited for government’s assistance in the launching of the FRCN project in Calabar, which according to him was long overdue for commissioning. He also requested for the upgrading of the NTA Calabar to enable it meet with modern challenges of communication needed to disseminate information on federal and State government activities to both the urban and rural dwellers in the State.
