- The digital terrestrial television (DTT) migration process has a considerable financial impact on South African broadcasters, and M-Net and are seeking an incentive to migrate to DTT. M-Net CEO Patricia Scholtemeyer said on Thursday that DTT migration was “very expensive” and that an adequate plan between broadcasters and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) had to be worked out. The government is partially funding the national broadcaster SABC to complete its migration, with costs for infrastructure escalating up to R700-million.
