Burkina Faso’s regulator CNC charts the rise of broadcast stations

Burkina Faso’s broadcast regulator Conseil supérieur de la communication (CSC) has published a short overview of the broadcast landscape in the country that shows the massive increase in the number of stations. It also says that it is receiving regular spectrum requests for frequency relays that will extend the geographic coverage of these radio and TV stations.

In policy terms, it has decided to prioritise the issuing of new frequencies for relays but has warned that these frequencies may well be reviewed at a later data. It has also prioritised the granting of licences to local radio stations that place a value on local cultural heritage.
