- The Director of Somalia’s Uniersal TV Ibrahim Mohamed Ali was kidnapped last week in Mogadishu by armed men. The kidnapping was condemned by the National Union of Somali Journalists and Reporters Without Borders. Meanwhile gunmen in Somalia have killed the director of influential Radio Shabelle. Moqtar Mohamed Hirabe was shot several times in the chest and head, one of his colleagues - who was injured in the attack in Mogadishu - said.

BBC World Service’s Peter Horrocks told journalists in Sierra Leone :"BBC's impact in Sierra Leone and Nigeria is substantial. We have a high level of audience loyalty, and the feedback we are getting is amazing," During his six-day tour, he met with political and spiritual leaders, journalists, business partners and the BBC audiences from the two West African countries. - Cape Town radio personality Mehboob Bawa, commonly known as the "Love Doctor", has been reinstated at 94.5 Kfm after the radio station was found to have booted him off the air unfairly.
