New studio complex launched in Johannesburg

A new studio complex is underway in the tranquil and largely residential suburb of Fontainebleau, north of Johannesburg. The scope and determination which has been invested in this project is a welcome indicator of confidence in the local film and television industry in South Africa in these tough economic times.

This impressives studio complex will shortly be the new home of one of South Africa's most popular daily dramas, Binnelanders. The project is the brainchild of Stark Films, headed up by Friedrich and Elsje Stark.

It is a dream complex built to exacting specifications which houses two of the best studios seen in South Africa, supported by all the areas, services and facilities that will not only make it work like clockwork, but will afford staff, crew and artistes alike a working environment like no other.

Project manager Human Stark, son of Friedrich and Elsje, is entirely confident that completion deadlines will be met. ÒBuilding commenced in June 2008 and completion is scheduled for November and thus far everything is on schedule," says Stark. Binnelanders will commence moving in November and during this month and December the entire production will re-locate from the Old Broadcast Centre in Fox Street to these new premises."
