South Africa: Channel O launches Goal Diggerz as new sports and entertainment show

Goal Diggerz is the name of Channel O’s exclusive new weekly show which combines sports, music and entertainment. The half-hour series makes its debut on Tuesday, 15 February at 9pm and is described as a whirlwind tour through the lives of successful African footballers who are currently making their mark on the European sport scene. Channel O is available across the African continent on DStv channel 320.

Lungile Radu is the host and offers a unique glimpse into what it’s like to be playing club football in Europe and the lifestyle that goes with it. The European life of former Ajax soccer star, Nathan Paulse, is featured in the first episode. Now signed to Hammarby IF in Stockholm, the lanky striker gives Radu a tour of his flat before taking him to the streets of the Swedish city to visit his favourite clothing store and much, much more.

Music itself forms an integral part of Goal Diggerz with videos pertinent to each player getting screen time in-between the action. There is also the chance to see how each footballer does in the unique Goal Diggerz challenge, where Africa’s best footballers step up to the plate and beat Radu at a game of rock, paper, scissors, among other challenges. Viewers will also be able to learn a trick or two from Goal Diggerz’s resident expert, Chris Njokwana who drops into each show to demo a move or two.
