Broadcast News: In Brief
- At the end of June 2010, Canal+ Overseas announced the signing of an agreement with the Tunisian Ministry of Communications, enabling the commercialisation in Tunisia of the Canal + Package, the first range of French channels by satellite in Northern Africa. Broadcast on the Arabsat satellites, the Canal+ Package is made up of 35 French channels covering all themes and 300 Arab channels available on Arabsat.
- CFI has been working with its TV partners in Portuguese-speaking Africa. A round table was scheduled for 8 - 9 July in Maputo to discuss and promote cooperation between Portuguese-language TV channels. This event focussed on TV channels’ involvement in programming acquisition and training. It was organised by CFI and brought together TV channel management from Mozambique (TVM), Angola (TPA), Cape Verde (RTC), Guinea-Bissau (RTGB) and Sao Tome and Principe (TVS).
- The latest EMS survey released on 24 June shows euronews has a strong following in five key markets in Africa: Cameroon, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa.
