- Journalist Tileni Mongudhi reported on 22 July 2010 for the Namibian that after  more than a year and a half and three acting Director Generals, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation yesterday got a new head. Marketing guru and MTC head of corporate affairs Albertus Aochamub was introduced to the NBC staff as the new king of the castle starting August 1.

NBC Chairman Sven Thieme introduced Aochamub to the media and the staff after Cabinet approved Aochamub's appointment. The candidate had emerged as the preferred candidate out of 12 applicants to take the NBC forward. Thieme said there would be no political interference and that the national broadcaster would do everything transparently.

Aochamub said he was prepared to make a success of the NBC and with a bankable business plan and attitude the institution could become commercial instead of relying on the public purse.

- Ghanaian star actress, Jackie Appiah is certainly having a good year. She recently followed her African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nod for best actress in a lead role with the City People Entertainment Award for best Actress in Ghana. The award which celebrates movies, music and comedy was held on July 18 at the 10 Degrees Event Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.

- UK-based American visual artist, Douglas Fishbone is currently in Ghana filming his first major role in a feature, tentatively titled ‘Elmina’. The Revele Films production is a thought provoking feature on oil, colonialism, greed, love and hatred. Although the story revolves around different families in crisis, it would focus on a man who decides to fight the system and live with the consequences.
