Broadcast News - In Brief
- Eighty-five television and film industry professionals have begun judging entries to this year's South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS). Their main focus will be on critique of excellence in scripts and/or content, creativity and execution. This year there are 257 entries across 18 genres, an increase on last year's 221 entries. Apart from the awards for feature films and Life Time Achievement, which will be judged in January 2011, all other judgings are due to be completed by 1 November 2010.
- New Vision in Uganda reported on Sept’ 20, 2010 that President Yoweri Museveni has given employees of closed Central Broadcasting Corporation (CBS) a reason to smile after announcing that he will re-open the station provided they don't repeat “past mistakes”.
