Nigeria: 4real TV, Ahlulbayt Islamic Channel Berths on HiTV

Nigeria's pay TV, HiTV, has once again decided to give to Nigerians and its valued subscribers a gift at a most auspicious time of celebration by its Muslim brothers. And as part of the Eidel-Kabir celebration, HiTV has launched two new channels, 4Real TV and Ahlulbayt TV, a 24-Islamic channel which addresses contemporary issues through cutting-edge programming.

4Real TV is a one of a kind 24-hour reality show and entertainment channel according to its project manager, Lamide Akintobi, in a statement signed by HiTV's Public Relations Manager, Justin Akpovi-Esade.

4Real began airing on HiTV on Monday, November 15 with behind- the-scenes footage of the first ever Nigerian Idol, music talent reality show which will be showing exclusively on 4Real TV from today, November 21.

"There will also be a mix of some of your favourite local and foreign game shows and reality shows, such as never before seen episodes of 'Don't Forget the Lyrics,' the 'Miss Nigeria Reality Show,' and reruns of Hi-TV's first reality show; 'Koko Mansion.' Also on offer will be popular programmes such as 'Gulder Ultimate Search' and 'Maltina Dance-All,' international music talent show, 'The Next Star,' and game shows such as 'You Bet Your Ass' and 'Inside the Box.' 4Real TV will have something for everyone: from family friendly entertainment programmes, to quiz shows that engage the brain," Akintobi said.

According to her, 4Real TV will appeal to a wide audience, of young and dynamic, information-driven people who aspire to be knowledgeable. "Our mission is to be the most-watched-entertainment channel in Nigeria and Africa, providing quality programming that appeals to a large audience."

Ahlulbayt TV Islamic channel came on board as part of a long-term plan by HiTV to satisfy its large population of its Muslim subscribers. It already has three Christian channels.

"There has been some clamouring for a Muslim channel but HiTV has a way of doing its thing, and we had to wait for the right time to launch the much-awaited channel and so to make the Eidel-Kabir complete for our Muslim brothers, we introduced Ahlulbayt TV on Friday, November 12. Recall HiTV launched its wave-making Hi Nolly Yoruba channel on Nigeria's 50th birthday, now at Eidel Kabir, we have launched Ahlulbayt TV and 4Real TV. At the moment, we have Gamji, a 24-hour Hausa-movies channel and now Ahlulbayt TV; we will keep adding channels that appeal to all ethnic groups in Nigeria. Igbo Amaka, a channel for the Igbo-speaking people is on its way, which is another bomb if you ask me. And to think that one can enjoy all this at just N3,500 monthly for the premium bouquet is an offer out of this world," Akpovi-Esade said. HiTV is currently running a Christmas promotion that will enable one get a complete system including installation at just N8, 999.
