- Russian English-language news TV channel Russia Today (RT) is now claiming an audience more than 4 times bigger than the aggregate audience of three of its rivals in South Africa. A survey by Synovate has found that RT’s average daily audience in South Africa is now more than four times bigger than the overall daily audience of Deutche Welle, France 24 and TV5 Monde. The EMS Africa 2010 study is said to be the first large-scale television audience survey in Africa.

- Food Network has been added to the DStv platform from 2 December 2010. This 24-hour channel is available to all DStv Premium and Compact subscribers on Channel 185. Food Network's exciting mix of programming features primetime entertainment favourites Iron Chef America, Chopped and Food Network Challenge, alongside daytime shows hosted by new and established talent, including Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives with Guy Fieri, Lawson, Throwdown with Bobby Flay and 30 Minute Meals with US celebrity chef Rachael Ray.
