During Fespaco, the European Commission has confirmed its 2011 support to the African cultural sector with a total budget of 30 million Euros through EU-ACP Films (European Union - African, Caribbean and Pacific). This program will build on the success of existing programs to support cinema and culture, which have recently enabled the production of Chadian film "A screaming man" from Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, Jury Prize at Cannes in 2010 and "The Last Flight of the Flamingo" movie from director Joao Ribeiro Mozambique, Best Fiction Film at the 3rd International Film Festival of Luanda (Angola).
At the start of March 2011, UNESCO has commissioned a survey on media and information literacy levels of teachers in Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland. The outcomes of the research will serve as an indication of the need for media and information literacy (MIL) training for teachers and will inform the adaptation of the Model MIL Curriculum for Teachers.
