African film makers to ‘drive’ Porsche cars ads
The 8th Porsche International Student Advertising Film Award 2011 invites film students to participate in this international advertising film competition.
For the first time, this year there will be two different categories of film. The first will be the classic commercial for TV, cinema or internet, which may not exceed a running time of 90 seconds. The other category will be the so-called "branded short", a form of advertising which is strongly represented particularly on the Internet and in social networks. In this category the maximum running time is 5 minutes.
Advertising spots can be submitted until Friday the 15th of July 2011. Eligible for application are students from film schools, schools of art and design and apprentices in the fields of film, television and advertising film throughout the world. The members of the jury cannot consider any adverstising film/format not produced at an educational institution. To promote the international appeal of this competition, only an advertising spot/format produced by a non-German school will receive the special prize.
The following format is required:
File format: Quicktime H.264 / Frame rate: 25 fps (or original framerate)
Quality: 100% (optimal) / Encoding: VBR, Multipass (best quality)
Data rate: 20.000 KBit / Sound: AAC 256 kbit/s, 48 kHz
Resolution: HD: 1920x1080 or SD:1024x576 (16:9 anamorph)
The ten finalists will be invited to the award ceremony in November 2011 in Ludwigsburg/Germany. The host will cover travel and accommodation expenses for one film team member per nominated film.
A qualified jury from the international advertising industry will be present on the day of the award ceremony and will personally hand the prizes over to the winners.
A total of four prizes will be awarded by the main sponsor, the Porsche company. Porsche will endow each of the winners with a trophy and prize money: the winner of the 1st prize will receive 3,911 Euros, 2nd prize winner 2,911 Euros, the 3rd prize winner 1,911 Euros and the special prize winner 911 Euros. The special prize will be awarded for an advertising spot produced by a school outside of Germany.
The award ceremony will be held on the 3rd November 2011 in Ludwigsburg, when the selected films are presented and when you get the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with your fellow competitors.
In addition, the international spots can be uploaded via an FTP server. All required information on how to submit a film can be found on Ad-award website here:
