ISFFO selects three films from South Africa

The 57th edition of International Short Film Festival Oberhausen announces that the festival will present three films from South Africa in its International Competition!
The following films have been selected:

•Atrophy by Palesa Shongwe
•Balance by Colleen Alborough
•Steglitz House by Bridget Baker

"I am very happy about this strong presence of South African works at this year’s festival which is extraordinary. I would like to take the occasion to thank all those that have had the confidence to submit their works to our festival as well as those people who helped during my stay in Cape Town and Johannesburg and afterwards to find interesting works and encouraged artists and film makers to send us their works," says Hilke Doering, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen), Germany.

"Short film is a great first step for a budding filmmaker. That's how I made my beginnings and Oberhausen was an important step on my path to become a Director." declared Roman Polanski
"I smoked my first cigarette here. For years, I saw every single film at the Westdeutsche Kurzfilmtage, looking forward to those days in Oberhausen every year. These events were important for me, for my decision to become a filmmaker." Wim Wenders noted.
