- At the international film festival in Cannes this year, Africa will be present and  TV5Monde will present a program called "And if you tell me the whole truth" (« et si vous disiez toute la vérité” in its French version). Denise Epoté will receive Senegalese rap icon Didier Awadi who is presenting his first feature film « Le Point de vue du lion » (“The Lion’s Point of View”).

- Tribeca Film Festival will feature ‘Mama Africa’. Tribeca announced the next round of feature films in the slate for the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, which will take place April 20 to May 1 at various locations in New York City, USA. This year's Spotlight section is co-sponsored by JetBlue Airways, includes 33 films—16 docs and 17 narratives; 16 of the films in this exciting mix of current global cinema will world premiere at Tribeca. The selection includes ‘Mama Africa’, directed by Mika Kaurismäki and written by Mika Kaurismäki and Don Edkins. The film is a coproduction from Germany, South Africa and Finland. Packed with five decades of rare archival footage and captivating melodies, Mama Africa tells the incredible story of Miriam Makeba. First introduced to American audiences by Harry Belafonte, Makeba’s songs exposed the injustice of Apartheid in South Africa to the world—resulting in a 30-year exile from her home country. Throughout her life, Makeba inspired millions through her powerful songs of joy, love, and revolution. In English, French with English subtitles.
