- Since 1st April 2011, Canal+ has launched a massive campaign to attract subscribers in Africa. The broadcaster has used Desperate Housewives’ 7th season as the spearhead of the campaign. In Cameroun’s largest cities such as Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Ngaoundéré, and on motorways, posters widely advertise the payTV’s new programmes. Special features will be released over April and May 2011. That includes popular US series Desperate Housewives’, the Champions League, the first League, ‘Nurse Jackie’ series, XIII and Jacob’s Cross 5 season, ‘+d’Afrique’ magazine, Canal Football Club, the Specimens, ‘Talents d’Afrique’ and the following films: ‘Sept vies’, ‘Fame’, ‘Prince of Persia’, ‘les Sables du temps’, ‘Le voleur de foudreand’, ‘Seven Lives’ with Will Smith. For Jackson Njiké, director of Canal+ Cameroun, this campaign aims at showing Canal+ varied content.
- Mid-April 2011, MultiChoice informed its subscribers that BVN (Holland’s public TV chanel) will extend its broadcasts on the DStv platform until end October 2011. During this period, BVN will carry out further research into its distribution options in Africa. Please keep an eye on the BVN website (www.bvn.tv) for further updates.
