“Tendance A”, a new programme on Afro-Caribbean creation


New monthly TV5Monde magazine " Tendance A" highlights African and Caribbean talents that affect fashion and design in the world.

The 26 ' programme’s next edition will be aired on Sunday, September 24, 2011 at 20:00 on TV5MONDE France Belgium Switzerland. The Editor in Chief is Ibrahima Diop and is presented by Cathy Thiam.

"The Show" / The 5th edition of  “Labo Ethnik”, in Paris from June 17 to 19, 2011: 

“Le Labo Ethnik”, the international fashion designers’ event is celebrating its 5th anniversary and allows 12 designers to parade for the first time in Paris. Cathy Thiam met five of them: David Tlale (South Africa), Thula Sindi (South Africa), Abigail Betz (South Africa), Ituen Basi (Nigeria) and strain (Tunisia).

"The Discovery of the Month" / Irya Cissé, a French modelling success:
Irya Cissé, with its slender silhouette, was noticed in 2007 and became the first runner at the “Ethnik Model Source” modeling contest. The report portrays the young French woman of Malian origin who today runs for the biggest global brands.

"Unusual" / "Africa in every sense," in Paris from 10 to 29 May 2011:
It “Musée du Quai Branly”, the Festival ‘ Africa in every sense ‘ celebrated Africa and its artistic diversity. Fine art was expressed with the “Maquis Imagination”: a collection of game facilities designed by various African artists who have recreated popular maquis. These popular bars are eating places, points of exchanges, place for encounters but also provide essential information on the continent.

"Zoom" / Meet Dtonn, visual artist and musician

Prodigy pencil Jean-Marie Compper alias "Dtonn", signed in 1994 its first series of portraits, "Black Stars", which represents black virgins’ mystics. With its art, the "Afro Iconographic Art," this French person of Guadeloupe origin pushes the viewer to meditation. He also plays in "dance-hall reggae" style of music.
