Senegal: New Radio or TV dedicated to environment


Over the summer, state authorities in Senegal have been considering creating a television or radio station that specializes in environmental issues reported the Senegalese News Agency (APS). The objective is to better manage "environmental data" of the country, said Awa Ndiaye, Minister of Culture, Gender and Living Environment.

"We will reflect on how to create a radio or even a television that will continuously educate on environmental information," she explained to the members of the National Assembly meeting in special session Thursday, August 18, 2011.

During the debate, Green MP Ousmane Sow Huchard even considered to revive Envi FM, a radio that spent much of its programmes to environmental issues. "There is an urgent need for the implementation of a communication policy dedicated to education, awareness and training of people in the household for Public Cleansing and garbage management of," he said.
