- Kenyan-based pay-TV and triple-play platform operator Wananchi Group is set to ramp up its East African activities with the launch of another two local channels in 2012. Spiritually themed “Zuku Inspire” and the provisionally titled “Zuku Movies ki-Swahili” are both slated to launch in the first half of 2012.
- In Mauritius, Mauritius Telecom/Orange MyT multi-play package now comes with up to 33 TV channels (Bollywood included), VoD, internet broadband, calls (“Sezam” on phone line, meaning clients will get up to 40% discount on international calls), Multi-LAN Wi-Fi modem (wireless modem so that up to six people can be online at the same time), DTT (TNT) enabled decoder. - At about 12 noon, Monday 21 Nov. 2011, people from GT Bank, their lawyers and some police officers stormed the Lagos premises of Toyin Subair's satelite TV, HiTV (‘The fastest growing Pay TV platform in Nigeria’), and locked the place up without giving much explanation to staff, who were given just a few minutes to vacate the office building, this blog reported. HiTV’s official website was shut down on 22.11.2011 at 10 a.m.
