ony top officials visit GRTS for more training and equipment
Three top officials of Sony Broadcasting and Professional Company based in Dubai in the Middle East, visited the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) building along the MDI Road in Kanifing, at the invitation of the national broadcaster.
Speaking in an interview with reporters at the GRTS premises shortly after a conducted tour of the facilities of the national broadcaster, Paul Martin, Sony’s Senior Sales Manager for Africa region, who is also the head of the delegation, said Sony has a project to develop the African market and understand their customers much better.
He said GRTS has got a lot of Sony equipment that were supplied to them over the years, but that one of their constraints as at now is training. “Sony Company has a very comprehensive training package; from operation to maintenance and I hope GRTS will also benefit from the package,” he said.
He expressed his good impressions with GRTS, saying they have a very good institution. For his part, Bai Sanyang, director of Television Engineering, expressed delight at the visit of the Sony top officials.
He affirmed that most of the equipment GRTS has been using since the inception of the television are Sony equipment. “We are grateful to Sony and we hope they will continue the fruitful collaboration with GRTS,” Sanyang noted.
He also highlighted the need for them to have more training opportunities, such as training on the maintenance and operation of most Sony equipment. “The visiting Sony officials promised us that Sony will work with us and this visit is the beginning and we hope to get more from them in future,” h concluded.
For his part, Alhaji Momodou Sanyang, director general of GRTS, thanked the visiting Sony officials on behalf of the government of The Gambia for honouring their invitation at their own expense. “I believe that we will get their support in the area of training and equipment,” DG Sanyang noted.
