- Youtube.sn was launched July 12, 2012 in Senegal. Tidjane Deme, head of Google Francophone Africa, said he was "extremely excited to launch version You Tube in Senegal," noting that "local content is a key element in the mission we set ourselves to make the Internet more relevant in sub-Saharan Africa. We are keen to highlight the production of our artists and give them the opportunity to generate income." As for Christopher Muller, director of partnerships for YouTube in Europe and South East, the Middle East and Africa, he said that "the launch of Youtube.sn offers unique opportunities for content partners federate and interact with their audience and to participate in the development of culture of Senegal in Africa and the world." Local versions of You Tube is already available in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana.
