- A joint venture between local and Indian investors, Bharat Telecom Ltd has set itself the ambitious target of investing US$50 million to connect every home and office in Mauritius through a 2,900 kms fibre network. It will offer high speed broadband (100 mbps) and IPTV through a GPON network.

- Following the evictions of well-known celebrities and reality TV personalities from the much talked about Big Brother Africa show on DStv, an event is put on every Tuesday to celebrate the recently evicted contestants. Since Tuesday 19th June 2012, the Randburg Amphitheatre, in the heart of the town's shopping district, has come alive with fans congregating to be entertained by Emcee Nkanyiso Bhengu, great music and a chance to pose for a photograph with the Big Brother contestant.
