- On 29 Aug. 2012, NETIA, a leading software manufacturer of media asset management and radio automation solutions, announced that it has supplied its Radio-Assist suite of digital audio automation software to Amhara Radio, a regional state-owned radio station in northeast Ethiopia.
- German-based media streaming company Simfy is set to launch a local offering of its music streaming service before the end of the month. Simfy Africa will have more than 18m tracks available for streaming and has secured licensing deals with all of the big international record labels, including Sony Music.
- To ensure the country's transition from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting, the authorities of Chad have sought the experience of France. A French delegation led by Louis de Broissia, Ambassador for external broadcasting ('l'audiovisuel extérieur' in French), including Guillaume Pierre, Africa director at CFI (Canal France International), was received on 8 August 2012 by the Prime Minister, Emmanuel Nadingar. An International Forum held in N'Djamena was the opportunity to organize this hearing.
- Broadcaster e.tv says the most recent draft digital terrestrial television (DTT) regulations published by the Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa) will make it impossible for free-to-air services to compete with DStv and other pay-TV operators.
