- Tanzania: A statement issued by Vodacom in Dar es Salaam said Vodacom customers will from today be rewarded 1,000 bonus airtime once they pay for services or buy goods through M-Pesa. Vodacom M-Pesa has partnered with over 200 service providers who accept M-Pesa as a means of payment; such services include TV Subscription.
- Reunion island: Dong Eon Lim, the CEO of Samsung Indian Ocean made the trip Saturday in a hotel in Saint-Gilles, to mark the introduction of Samsung in Reunion. Korean group Samsung Electronics industry which was founded in 1969, is since 2009 the global market leader in the manufacture of high-tech electronics and digital media. Now, through Samsung Africa, the brand will develop all its activities from Reunion, including the international concept of Shop in Shops. These "concept stores" will offer the full range Samsung TV audio / video, camera and camcorder, computers and appliances. Full story in French here
- Uganda : Government needs to increase awareness campaigns if the country is to fully embrace the concept of digital migration, an industry player has said. Mr. Simon Arineitwe, the Country Sales Manager at Startimes Digital TV says the message that has often been put out by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is not very clear to many citizens, calling for increased close interaction.
