Box TV extended its African partnerships


At the end of 2012, Box TV announced a raft of deal renewals in the African market.

Box Television, the Channel 4 and Bauer Media music television joint venture  has announced deal renewals with  key platforms in the African market including TopTv the South African DTH platform, Zuku, east Africa’s triple play provider and Angola and Mozambique’s Zap platform.

The deals cover Box Television’s network of channels Kiss, Smash Hits, Kerrang!,  Magic and Box Africa. TopTv and Zuku will carry the entire network of channels while Zap adds Box Africa in addition to renewing deals for Kiss and Smash Hits.

Zuku’s Head of programming Kevin Steve Agutu said: “Box have proved to be a very flexible partner with great brands which our viewers love and we are very happy to be continuing our relationship.”

The network is now licenced in 15 countries across Africa.

MIPCOM 2012 also signals the availability of the Box TV music channel network across Europe. This move follows the runaway success of its channels in Africa and signals a confident step forward for UK-based Box TV and its international distribution strategy.

The Box network targets twenty-something music fans who want to know what the best new music is in the mainstream market with differently branded channels for he genres of Pop, Rock, Dance and RnB and Nostalgia.
