Distribution - In Brief

- Faced with increasing difficulties, many African film festivals located in Europe put together a network over Fespaco 2013. At the initiative of Mane Cisneros (Director of Festival of Cordoba, Spain) and Heidi Lobato (AITP, Holland), a meeting of several leaders of European festivals devoted to African cinemas decided to set up a network. The first meeting outreach was held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 17h at Liptako Gourma - where the Media Centre has its headquarters FESPACO. The idea is to share information and form a network that will allow festival concerned to be less fragile. The main problem is the decrease of public support that melts like snow in the sun in Ouagadougou. Among the options explored, sharing the work of subtitling or registration forms films.

- Channel Africa hosted a discussion about the state of South African film with a focus on distribution, production, financing, policy and copyrights – up to 66% of DVD sales goes through illegal street sales - following the NFVF's release of the 10 year film and television industry review document.
