Google in Ghana: YouTube took-off in the birthplace of Azonto!


When azonto was first performed by dance groups in Ghana, no one would have guessed how far it would go. Today, the fact that the world is intrigued by azonto confirms that Ghana has much to share with the world.

Today, we are delighted to announce the launch of, a version of YouTube that will give Ghanaians an easy way to discover local content and content producers. From today, when Ghanaian users visit the Ghana domain, they will instantly see the most popular videos in Ghana, as well as videos that are most relevant to them.

We have partnered with local content producers and broadcasters like the Multimedia Group and Pidgen Music to bring a more diverse mix of Ghanaian content to YouTube, and we’re looking forward to seeing more Ghanaian videos online.
