Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company will turn bestselling South African writer Lauren Beukes’ newest novel about a time-travelling serial killer into a TV series.

The Shining Girls, described on its cover as a tale of “A girl who wouldn’t die hunting the killer who shouldn’t exist,” is a story about Depression-era serial killer from Chicago who discovers a way to travel through time. In order to keep time travelling Curtis must kill “shining girls,” women with great talent and potential. One of his victims survives and tries to bring the killer to justice.

DiCaprio’s Appian Way company is cooperating with film and television studio MRC to create the project. While better known for its involvement in such movies as Ted, MRC has also made an impact in TV as they produced Netflix’s House of Cards, and HBO’s The Ricky Gervais Show and The Life and Times of Tim.
