- In South Africa, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa granted pay channel Top TV rights to broadcast pornography in April 2013.
- Ghana’s National Communications Authority hosted a 5 day Training Course on Amateur Radio Administration in Accra. Organised in conjunction with the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) (Region 1) and the ITU, the course ran from 3rd June to 7th June 2013. The primary objective of the course was to train regulators (or prospective regulators) on administration of the amateur service and amateur-satellite service in developing countries for managing disaster relief communications and to organize an amateur radio society. Around 30 participants, including staff of NCA turned in for the training with some participants from other countries such as Kenya and Southern Sudan.
- Sierra Leone: The founder of the Kids Radio Network FM 103.0, Andrew Jenekeh Kromah, has officially launched the Kids radio station during a ceremony at the SKYY Radio office on Friday 7th June, 2013. Kromah launched the radio station on the very day Sierra Leone’s House of Parliament enacted the Child Rights Act six years ago on 7th June, 2007.
- The 5th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Digital Broadcasting Migration Forum (DTT) was convened from 15th to 17th April 2013 at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre, in Swakopmund, Namibia. The Forum was preceded by the 2nd SADC Digital Broadcasting Migration Implementation Steering Committee Meeting held in the morning on 15th April 2013.
