Free Your Mind (FYM), Namibia's monthly comedy initiative recently celebrated their fifth anniversary. The brainchild of Ndemufayo 'Chicken' Kauxuxena and Onesmus 'Slick' Upindi, whose love for entertainment sparked the idea of forming a comedy collective.

Having seen FYM grow to theatre busting proportions, through much sacrifice and laughter, the FYM brand can now look forward to hitting our television screens, when it airs on NBC every Wednesday at 19h00, starting from 4 September.

A spokesperson for the National broadcasted, applauded the FreeYourMind'ers for their hard work and creativity at the Last Comic Standing event which took place on 1 August, saying that laughter is very important to human beings and has many health benefits, which is why NBC is excited at this promising partnership.

FYM MD Sabati Popyeni hailed the NBC for being open to new ideas and toasted the partnership as a new chapter in Namibian entertainment.

The most recent event, saw Namibia's funniest up and comers competing for the title of Last Comic Standing. As has become the norm for FYM on the first Thursday of the month, it was a packed house, as Windhoek's 'it' crowd clamoured to see last year's winner, Taap the Guy, take to the stage, as host for the evening.

Once the eager crowd had settled in, the comics took to the stage to show off their best jokes in the highly successful knockout format that has made Last Comic Standing a highlight on the annual calender.

Contestant's names were drawn from a basket, whereafter they had three minutes to impress the crowd and judges to secure a spot in the next round. All kinds of funny was brought out on the night, from first timers to more experienced performers, there was certainly no shortage of the top class comedy we've come to expect from the the folks at FYM.
