DIFFA has announced the first sale of a French-speaking African TV series to the English-speaking market: « The kings of Ségou ». The kings of Ségou is a TV series directed by Boubacar Sidibé and produced by Nana Kadidia Toumagnon from Brico films, Mali, 2010-2012.
The Buyer is M-Net.

The kings of Ségou (Season 1 & 2 : 41 episodes of 26’) is a historical saga that takes the viewer into a journey through the Bambara kingdom that dominated a great part of the actual Mali from mid-17th to 19th Century.

« Discop Africa was an amazing opportunity – states Alain Modot, DIFFA co-founder – to meet broadcasters focusing on African content. We are happy with this first collaboration with M-Net for the TV series The kings of Segou. The new programmes of our catalogue have also been appreciated during Discop, both in the film genre (The mirror boy or The spiderwebs) and in the drama and magazines’ genres (Piments & Foufou, Blackamorphoses). With more than 40 meetings, many opportunities have arisen which should find concrete expression in the next weeks.

This shows the quality and appeal of DIFFA catalogue for broadcasters of French-speaking and English-speaking Africa ».

DIFFA is a Media Consulting Group (France) and Martika Production (Ivory Coast) initiative for a better distribution of African audiovisual works on international markets. DIFFA has gathered together 11 production companies coming from 6 different countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria and France) for more than 300 hours of fiction and magazines. DIFFA works for the promotion of audiovisual works produced in Africa by African professionals and plans to extend its catalogue to Pacific and Caribbean productions, which have the same needs as African works in terms of production and distribution. DIFFA is a place for professional networking, a “training opportunity” on distribution issues (contracts’ optimization, technical standards, promotion) and a tool for a sustainable development through the strengthening of producers’ ROI.

DIFFA is supported by Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
