Distribution

Semba Comunicação and Côte Ouest have signed an agreement regarding the distribution of the hit telenovela Windeck. Côte Ouest will be in charge of the distribution of English and French versions of the super production, which was produced in Angola by Semba Comunicação in 2013. The independent film and television distribution company Côte Ouest, will also be responsible for supplying the original Portuguese programme to international markets.

“Windeck”, Semba's first soap opera format, was nominated in the 2013 International Emmy Awards telenovela category, placing the show in direct competition with major Brazilian telenovela powerhouses.

Subtitled "The Price of Success", “Windeck” explores the consequences of unbridled ambition and its agonizingly high price. Set in the fictional newsroom of Divo, a lifestyle magazine, Windeck's renowned cast brings to life a web of betrayal and intrigue, passion and glamour.

This fresh, innovative Angolan telenovela was shot on location in the country’s capital Luanda, one of Africa's most energetic cities. Windeck had achieved unprecedented success in Angola and Portugal where the telenovela was first broadcast on RTP1, reaching a high market share of 22, 3%.

The popularity of the show was fuelled by the universal appeal of the human stories it portrays. As the result of Windeck’s success, Semba Comunicação plans to launch the magazine from the show, Divo. The first issue was published in May 2013 with more than 10 000 copies in circulation.

Pédro Sousa de Semba Communication said, “Cote Ouest, has a reputation for excellence. It already represents premium brands in the African television market, such as Global television, a Buena Vista Disney, Metro Goldwyn Mayer and CBS Paramount.“
